Hello and welcome to 'The Polka Dot Apple' - a place for Elegance, Education and Experience.
I am an Australian wife and mother and as you may have already guessed, I am also a teacher. I enjoy creating beautiful environments in which to live.
I love interior design and styling spaces.
I have been teaching for many years in different countries including the USA, Switzerland and England. I now happily live with my husband in bayside Melbourne, Australia.
I have a special interest in teaching the younger grades and derive the greatest joy teaching small children to read. My mother passed to me her love of words and reading and in turn, I want to inspire children to want to pick up books.
In 2012 I decided to share the fun and engaging learning experiences in my classroom with the parents of the students and their extended family. ‘The Polka Dot Apple’ was born and whilst my student’s family members enjoyed being ‘involved’ in the classroom, I found I really enjoyed the creative aspect of forming a blog. Eventually I wanted to write about other interests and people and ‘The Polka Dot Apple’ morphed into a ‘lifestyle’ blog, a place where the frustrated stylist in me can showcase pretty things.
I enjoy transforming physical spaces, such as my classroom and home, into beautiful environments. As far as I am concerned, any event calls for a theme and gorgeous styling! ‘The Polka Dot Apple’ is my canvas to create in the digital space and enables me to record the beauty of people, objects and everyday events in words and pictures. In what is essentially storytelling, I like to think I bring not only humour, but also a sense of positivity that reflects my genuine interest in life and belief in the good in people. I find social history intriguing and have a particular interest with fascinating women. Through ‘The Polka Dot Apple’ I celebrate women, past and present, and highlight the amazing work carried out in the community. I firmly believe in ‘women supporting women.’
My mother stressed the importance of maintaining strong connections with other women, and one unexpected benefit of ‘The Polka Dot Apple’ is that my network of fabulous women continues to grow. If you also adore pretty things and would like to collaborate, review, advertise or provide giveaways, please get in touch.
Thank you for taking the time to visit with ‘The Polka Dot Apple’. I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay. I invite you to leave your comments and I look forward to connecting with you.
